Netflix GTA 6: Everything you need to know about the massive gameplay reveal this August

Rockstar Games has announced that Grand Theft Auto 6: An Extended Look will premiere exclusively on Netflix later this month, offering fans their most comprehensive look yet at the highly anticipated title ahead of its November launch.

The special presentation will debut on August 28 at 12:30 AM IST (Indian Standard Time). for Netflix subscribers before becoming available on YouTube six hours later. Netflix users can already set a reminder for the event through the streaming platform.

Unlike a conventional third trailer, Grand Theft Auto 6: An Extended Look is expected to provide a more detailed showcase of the game, with gameplay footage likely to feature prominently. The announcement comes as anticipation surrounding Rockstar’s blockbuster continues to grow following the release of two trailers and a series of screenshots over recent months.

Describing the collaboration as a “first-of-its-kind partnership,” Netflix said the showcase marks a significant milestone for both companies. The streamer highlighted the cultural impact of the Grand Theft Auto franchise, noting that GTA 6 arrives 13 years after the release of Grand Theft Auto V, coinciding with Netflix’s own evolution as a global entertainment platform.

“Grand Theft Auto reveals have become cultural moments in their own right,” said Brandon Riegg, Netflix’s Vice President of Nonfiction Series. “The anticipation and fandom around Grand Theft Auto 6 is unprecedented, and we’re honoured that Rockstar Games has partnered with us to debut the next part of the Grand Theft Auto story with Netflix members first.”

The official synopsis for the game follows protagonists Jason and Lucia, who find themselves caught in a sprawling criminal conspiracy across the fictional state of Leonida after a seemingly simple heist goes wrong. Forced to rely on each other to survive, the duo must navigate the darkest corners of the sunniest place in America.

The announcement follows a steady increase in Rockstar’s marketing campaign. In June, the studio unveiled the game’s official cover art and opened pre-orders, while also releasing a large collection of new screenshots showcasing locations, characters and gameplay details. However, many fans had expected a third trailer to accompany the pre-order launch, especially as nearly 500 days have passed since Trailer 2 was released in May 2025.

Grand Theft Auto 6 is currently scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, with parent company Take-Two Interactive maintaining that the release remains on track. Pre-orders have reportedly begun strongly despite debate surrounding the game’s $80 price tag and Rockstar’s decision to release the title as a digital-only product, with no physical disc edition. The move has even prompted some retailers to opt against stocking the game.

With just over two months remaining before launch, the upcoming Netflix presentation is expected to provide the most detailed look yet at one of the gaming industry’s biggest releases, giving fans a clearer idea of what to expect from Rockstar’s next open-world epic.
