Vinicius rejects Real Madrid’s €22 million/year offer to extend his contract -report

Real Madrid and Vinicius Junior are still negotiating a contract extension after the Brazilian attacker rejected the club’s latest offer, which would’ve increased his salary to €22 million annually, according to a report from Cadena SER.

Vinicius and his representatives are expected to meet with Real Madrid’s front office this week to keep discussing this extension, but there’s currently a significant gap between what the player demands and what the club is offering. The main friction point appears to be a signing bonus, which Real Madrid are not willing to offer knowing that it would set a precedent in future extensions.

In this context, Arsenal are paying close attention. The London-based club could emerge as a very likely destination for Vinicius this summer if the winger doesn’t sign an extension, given that Real Madrid have all but decided to sell the player if an agreement is not reached over the next few weeks.
