The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has recently awarded its 1,000 MW Round-the-Clock Thermal Mimic (RTC-TM) power tender to seven bidders. It awarded this tender after four months from issuing it in March this year.
The tender represents one of India’s most unique experiments in renewable power procurement, aiming to replicate the reliability of conventional thermal power through renewable energy. Out of 16 companies that participated in the bidding process, SECI awarded capacities to seven developers at tariffs ranging between Rs. 5.25/unit and Rs. 5.26/unit.
According to the tender results, apart from Juniper Green Energy Limited and Hexa Climate Solutions Private Limited which secured a 300 MW tender and 150 MW respectively for Rs. 5.26/unit, the remaining bidders were awarded varied capacities at a uniform tarrif of Rs. 5.25/unit.

(100 MW), Hero Solar Energy Private Limited (120 MW), PURVAH GREEN POWER PRIVATE LIMITED (70 MW), RESOLVEN FOUR ENERGY PRIVATE LIMITED (150 MW), KENGERI PRIME SOLAR POWER PRIVATE LIMITED (180 MW), Hexa Climate Solutions Private Limited (150 MW), and Juniper Green Energy Limited (300 MW), all at a tariff of Rs. 5.26/unit.

Previous Tenders
The latest RTC-TM tender has surpassed SECI’s previous Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) tender, which discovered tariffs as low as Rs. 4.98/unit. Notably, the e-reverse auction for the current tender began at Rs. 5.16/unit before concluding in the Rs. 5.25–5.26/unit range.
SECI awarded the earlier 630 MW FDRE tender to Vena Energy Aura (100 MW), Hero Solar Energy (100 MW), and JSW Neo Energy (230 MW) at their quoted tariff of Rs. 4.98/unit. Meanwhile, Serentica Renewables secured 250 MW at a quoted tariff of Rs. 4.99/unit.
The awards followed SECI’s tender for the procurement of 630 MW of Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE). The initiative is expected to accelerate the adoption of renewable energy by enabling it to provide firm and reliable power comparable to conventional generation sources. A notable feature of the FDRE model is that it is among the few renewable procurement frameworks capable of achieving near-perfect dispatchability through 100% renewable energy.
