Scientists create gene-edited beagles that don’t trigger owners’ allergies

Scientists used CRISPR gene-editing technology to create hypoallergenic twin beagles in US, by disabling the primary gene responsible for producing allergy-causing proteins. They edited dog skin cells, transferred the modified genetic material into eggs and implanted them into a surrogate. Researchers are now monitoring dogs’ long-term health while developing cost-effective breeding strategies.
