The grievance alleged that family members of KPSC officers secured unusually excessive marks, that some candidates had been allegedly given entry to the query paper earlier than the examination, and that OMR sheets had been tampered with. Shivashankarappa was booked for the offence below Part 318 (dishonest) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and below provisions of the Karnataka Public Examinations (Measures for Prevention of Corruption and Unfair Means in Recruitment) Act, 2023.
A trial court docket, on August 11, rejected Shivashankarappa’s anticipatory bail plea, citing the seriousness of the allegations, the necessity for his custodial interrogation and the potential for his influencing the investigation, witnesses or proof given his place.
