Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz has threatened a “full-scale struggle” towards the Palestinian Authority (PA) after a settler was stabbed within the occupied West Financial institution.
Israeli forces killed the suspect, a Palestinian man, quickly after the assault, wherein the 19-year-old settler was critically injured, Israeli Military Radio reported on Monday. The incident happened at an unlawful settlement close to the village of Usarin within the Nablus governorate.
The suspect fled the scene in a automobile, with Israeli troopers launching a search operation. They later stated the suspect was killed after he allegedly tried to stab troopers.
A number of Palestinian villages had been in lockdown after the incident, Al Jazeera correspondent Laith Jaar reported.
Israel’s Channel 12 reported that the settler suffered a number of stab wounds and was taken to hospital in a helicopter. His situation was stated to be critical.
Reacting to the incident, Katz stated, “If … the Palestinian Authority’s safety mechanisms and associated our bodies provoke, or we all know with certainty that they’re about to provoke, a terror assault within the type of October 7 towards [Israeli] forces and Jewish settlements — Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and I’ve instructed the [military] to arrange for the opening of a full-scale struggle.”
