A primary info report (FIR) was registered on Sunday towards chief of the Opposition within the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi at Haldwani Kotwali police station in Uttarakhand’s Nainital district over his alleged remarks over a “purification ritual” performed on the native Ramlila Floor.

Superintendent of Police (Metropolis) Haldwani Manoj Kumar Katyal confirmed the event, saying, “Based mostly on the grievance submitted by Amit Kumar, a Jawahar Nagar Colony resident, an FIR has been registered towards Rahul Gandhi below related sections, and an intensive investigation into the matter is at present underway.”

Kumar (26) recognized himself as a member of the Scheduled Caste (Valmiki) group and an office-bearer of the native belief, Shri Ram Sena Dharmarth Seva Nyas.
The case has been registered below sections of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 and Sections 196 (selling enmity between courses) and 299 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
The complainant has alleged that in a press convention in New Delhi on August 29, Gandhi wrongly described the cleansing and havan ritual as an act of “untouchability” and an atrocity towards the Scheduled Caste group with out verifying the information.
