Amazon has revealed that its upcoming Great Freedom Sale will begin on August 7 this year, going live at amazon.in at 12 AM.

Both Prime and non-Prime customers will be able to shop for goods across product categories, and leverage short-term discounts as well as stack bank offers.

Amazon also announced that its Prime members were in for a “special treat with extra savings,” with the details set to be revealed closer to the date.

A number of Indian brands and e-commerce platforms promote Independence Day deals and sales in August, upping the incentive for customers to move more of their wish-listed items into their checkout carts.

However, the rising price of memory worldwide has also put both gadget-makers and customers under pressure. In particular, smartphone and laptop-makers are trying to entice buyers with new AI features, while customers are wary about sudden price jumps.

“During the shopping event, customers can look forward to exciting savings through special curations such as Top 100 Deals, Blockbuster Deals, Trending Deals and 8 PM Deals across categories including smartphones, laptops, televisions, large appliances, fashion, beauty, home and kitchen, groceries, everyday essentials and more. Customers across 100% of serviceable pin codes of India can get access to these deals,” shared Amazon in a blog post about the upcoming sale.

Tips for making the most of an e-commerce sale:

Check in with your local retailers, as well as nearby brick-and-mortar stores to see if they will match Amazon product prices

Be sure to check installation, warranty, and other after-sales services before buying a large appliance or other high-value gadgets via an e-commerce sale

Make sure to vet and verify third-party resellers before ordering technology products from them

In case you suspect you have been sent a fake, damaged, or counterfeit product, get in touch with the seller and/or Amazon, as well as the parent brand, in order to escalate the issue

Record an unboxing video when unpackaging the product for the first time, to serve as evidence

Do not pay cash to delivery people when you do not remember ordering the product online—even if the item is packed in Amazon’s trademarked box or envelope; this is a common scam tactic

Never share delivery OTPs with delivery partners over phone calls or messages if they have not arrived at your doorstep. Furthermore, never hand back a product after sharing the delivery OTP

Use a third-party price history tracking tool online in order to see if you are getting your desired item at the lowest possible price
