A 20-year-old BBA student faces abduction and sexual assault charges. He is demanding luxury amenities and refusing police questioning.

NAGPUR: The 20-year-old BBA student, arrested in the alleged abduction and sexual assault of a 16-year-old girl, has begun complaining about dingy walls and a stinking toilet in lock-up and demanded pizza for breakfast and premium food for dinner. He is also refusing custodial interrogation after his top lawyer alleged police highhandedness in court on Tuesday, leaving cops in a fix.The accused, who refused medical examination and treatment, also refused to share his cell phone password and the survivor’s mobile, which he took control of during her 24-hour captivity. Sources at Hudkeshwar police station said the youth has been deftly stonewalling queries even as cops struggled to gather digital evidence. He was forcibly taken for medical examination on Tuesday.“The accused has been keeping the lock-up staff on their toes with repeated demands for VIP treatment. He has also been grumbling about sleepless nights, mosquito bites and demanded a thick cushion or a soft bedding and immediate installation of insect repellents in the lock-up,” said a senior official.Police sources said the accused has also been arguing with officers round the clock and has been pinning the blame on the 16-year-old girl for his sexual exploits. On Tuesday, the accused had levelled serious allegations against police before the special judge, alleging that police stole Rs 70,000 in cash from his rented flat, thrashed him and refused to return his spectacles and shoes. Police officers told TOI the youth is trying to inflict injuries on himself to strengthen the false narrative.Senior inspector Anamika Mirzapure of Hudkeshwar police station stated they have cooperated with the accused and met his basic needs. “If any accused demands luxury, soft beds, better food, and constantly argues, we cannot help. The accused is stalling interrogations and refusing to cooperate. We are constantly counselling him,” she said. Hassled policemen are monitoring him to prevent any self-harm attempts while continuing efforts to extract information.
