A 32-year-old woman teacher was stabbed to death allegedly by a stalker inside a private school in Faridabad on Monday morning. The police arrested the accused, identified as Amit, 21, a resident of Kot village, within two hours of the incident.
According to the police and eyewitnesses, Mr. Amit entered the school in Sikrauna village wearing a mask around 10 a.m. and made his way directly to the staff room. He spoke to the teacher for a few seconds before pulling out a knife and launching a sudden attack on her.
Hearing her screams, other staff members rushed to the spot and attempted to intervene. The assailant, however, managed to flee the premises. The injured teacher was rushed to the Civil Hospital, where doctors declared her dead on arrival.
The police said the victim sustained multiple deep wounds to the neck, chest and face.
A case was registered at the Sector 58 police station on the basis of a complaint filed by the deceased’s husband, Vikas.
Acting on technical surveillance and inputs from sources, the police tracked down the accused and arrested him.
According to the police, the accused told them during preliminary interrogation that he had known the victim for about two years as she used to teach at a private school in his village. He said he had been “stalking” her, but she distanced herself and threatened to file a legal complaint against him. Enraged by this, he allegedly went to the school and stabbed her, the police said.
The accused will be produced before a court on Tuesday. Further investigation is under way, the police said.
