Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) MLA from Kavundampalayam, Kanimozhi Santhosh, on Wednesday (September 2, 2026) claimed that Congress chief and Chief of the Opposition within the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi would assist TVK president and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay to turn into the Prime Minister in 2029.
Chatting with reporters in Chennai, Ms. Santhosh mentioned, “It was Mr. Rahul Gandhi who made our chief [Mr. Vijay] sit within the Chief Minister’s chair. Equally, in 2029, Mr. Rahul Gandhi would maintain our chief’s hand and lead him to the Prime Minister’s chair.”
Reacting to her remarks, Congress ground chief and Colachel MLA Tharahai Cuthbert mentioned, “Mr. Rahul Gandhi is a pacesetter accepted by everybody. The Chief Minister was clear that Mr. Rahul Gandhi could be the Prime Ministerial candidate for the 2029 basic election.”
“The TVK MLAs are new to politics and are nonetheless in a followers’ angle,” Ms. Cuthbert mentioned.
