Theon Pharma Introduces India’s First Vonoprazan Triple Therapy Kit

Theon Pharmaceuticals has launched India’s first therapy kit combining vonoprazan, amoxicillin and clarithromycin for the treatment of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection, marking a significant addition to the country’s gastrointestinal care portfolio. The therapy kit brings together all three medicines in a single pack, offering a streamlined treatment regimen for patients diagnosed with the bacterial infection linked to peptic ulcers and gastric cancer.

The newly introduced combination is built around vonoprazan, a potassium-competitive acid blocker (P-CAB), which provides stronger and more sustained acid suppression than conventional proton pump inhibitors (PPIs). Clinical evidence has shown that better acid control can enhance antibiotic effectiveness, leading to improved H. pylori eradication rates, particularly in regions with rising antibiotic resistance.

New GI Treatment Option
According to the company, the co-packaged therapy is designed to improve treatment adherence by reducing the complexity of taking multiple medicines separately. Standard H. pylori therapy often requires patients to follow a strict medication schedule involving acid-suppressing drugs and antibiotics. A single therapy kit is expected to simplify dosing while supporting better compliance and clinical outcomes.

H. pylori infection remains one of the leading causes of gastritis, peptic ulcer disease and a major risk factor for gastric cancer. Healthcare experts have increasingly highlighted the need for more effective eradication therapies as resistance to conventional antibiotic regimens continues to rise. Vonoprazan-based triple therapy has already been introduced in several international markets, where studies have demonstrated high eradication rates and favourable safety profiles compared with traditional PPI-based regimens.

Theon Pharmaceuticals said the launch reinforces its focus on developing differentiated pharmaceutical formulations for the domestic market. The company believes the therapy kit will provide physicians with an additional evidence-based treatment option while supporting efforts to improve gastrointestinal disease management in India through innovative and patient-friendly drug delivery formats.
