Protesting Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leaders, together with social gathering chief Lalu Rasad Yadav’s elder daughter and social gathering MP Misa Bharti, and chief of Opposition in State Meeting Tejashwi Yadav had been detained by Patna police on Wednesday (August 19, 2026) whereas participating in a protest march to the Lok Bhawan.

The social gathering and its supporters are protesting police action against students agitating in opposition to NEET query paper leaks in Bihar final month.

As police rounded up the protesters in buses, the RJD leaders shouted slogans: “Jo Gen-Z ki baat karega, wohi desh mein Raj karega [those who will talk about, think about Gen Z, rule over the country]”

The social gathering leaders and their supporters had first assembled at J.P. Golumbar, close to Gandhi Maidan to set off the march. Few RJD employees had been seen carrying toy weapons (replicas of AK-47) to sentence the July 25, 2026 firing incident through which police used subtle weapon on protesting college students in Siwan district.

“We had assembled to go to Lok Bhawan however police stopped us at I-T chouraha however we aren’t afraid going to jail “ RJD chief Tejashwi Yadav, who can also be chief of Opposition in State Meeting, stated. The Police then proceeded to take Mr. Yadav into custody transferred him onto a bus, together with different social gathering leaders and employees.

RJD MP Manoj Jha, who participated within the foot march, stated college students and youth throughout the nation, notably in Bihar, had been offended over recurring paper leaks and unemployment.

RJD MLA Bhai Virendra stated the rallyists are scheduled to submit a memorandum to the governor on the Lok Bhavan.

Reacting to the social gathering’s march, BJP State president Sanjay Saraogi claimed that it was a rally to “save the profession” of Tejashwi Yadav.

“He failed as a scholar, cricketer and politician. Now, he’s attempting to play politics round a problem that the Bihar authorities has already resolved,” Mr. Saraogi asserted.
