Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran resigns ahead of AGM, firm’s stocks tumble

N Chandrasekaran stepped down on Wednesday as chairman of Tata Sons forward of the corporate’s annual common assembly, which is scheduled for August 18.

In a press release, Chandrasekaran mentioned, “I’ve communicated to the Tata Sons Board that I’ve determined to not provide myself for reappointment when my time period ends on Feb 20, 2027. I’ve requested the Board to determine on the succession quickly to make sure a correct transition…”

Chandrasekaran’s present time period is about to proceed till February 2027. Nonetheless, he mentioned he wouldn’t search reappointment as soon as his time period involves an finish.

His resignation comes amid tensions with shareholders and variations between Chandrasekaran and Tata Trusts chairman Noel Tata.
