Tamil Nadu CM Joseph Vijay’s Wife Withdraws Divorce Petition

The divorce petition filed by the wife of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Joseph Vijay, which was pending before the Family Court in Chengalpattu, has been withdrawn.

Judge D Sujatha allowed an application filed by Vijay’s wife, Sangeetha, seeking to withdraw the divorce case.

On Friday (August 7th) Sangeetha appeared before the court via video conferencing and confirmed that she did not wish to proceed further with the case.

The court gave notice to Vijay’s side and sought their response to the withdrawal plea. Since no objection was raised, the court permitted the withdrawal, granting liberty to the petitioner (Sangeetha) to file a fresh petition in the future, if required.

It may be noted that in February this year, Sangeetha had filed the plea, seeking divorce on the grounds of adultery and mental cruelty.

She had stated that though she attempted to resolve the issue amicably, no resolution was reached, and the matter was deferred, considering the children’s studies and emotional well-being.

She had thus sought dissolution of the marriage under Section 27(1)(a),(b),(d) of the Special Marriage Act.
