Tamil Nadu Budget 2026 LIVE updates: State Finance Minister N. Marie Wilson presents TVK-led Govt’s maiden Budget

Establishment of T.N. Student Hostels and Infrastructure Corporation

A sum of ₹10 crore has been allocated as corpus to establish the Tamil Nadu Student Hostels and Infrastructure Corporation (TNSHIC), a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), to improve student hostel facilities across the State under TN-SUDAR scheme, announced the State Finance Minister N. Marie Wilson. It aims to establish 200 integrated student hostels with one lakh modern accommodation facilities at an estimated cost of ₹3,200 crore.

The project will be implemented under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model through the Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer (DBFOT) framework. The State government will provide a 20% construction grant, amounting to ₹640 crore — N. Sai Charan
