Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) spokesperson Saurav Das on Wednesday alleged that certain YouTubers and reporters had broken into his house and were showing visuals from inside, calling it a “grave security threat” to him and his family.
“Certain YouTubers and media channels have broken into my house and are showing the visuals from inside. It’s not just an invasion of my privacy but also a grave security threat for me and my family,” Das wrote in a post on X.
He warned that if anti-social elements attacked him at his residence because of the videos, the YouTubers and “their troll handlers” coordinating them would be “directly responsible”.
In a subsequent post, Das claimed that around 15 to 20 people had descended on his house this morning, while some had been camping outside since the previous night.
“(As many as) 15-20 such people descended on my house this morning. Some have been camping outside since last night. These videos have now activated goons, a grave security threat for everyone living in the house,” he tweeted.
The CJP leader also shared links to videos showing YouTubers outside his residence discussing his property, personal life and his role in the 36-day student protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, which culminated in Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation as Education Minister.
Das said he was currently in Maharashtra for the outfit’s two-day strategy meeting and expressed concern over the safety of those at his residence.
OPPOSITION LEADERS REACT
Das’s allegations drew political reactions, with Trinamool Congress MP Derek O’Brien saying the matter would be raised in Parliament.
“We are raising this in Parliament. In Rajya Sabha. ASAP,” O’Brien tweeted. To this, Das responded with a namaste emoji.
AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal also reacted, saying, “This is the real face of Modi ji.”
Later, reacting to the allegations, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi accused the Centre of targeting student protesters and said they were being punished for demanding reforms in the education system.
“They were not doing violence, they were not being aggressive, they were not being nasty. They were beaten, assaulted and threatened. Forcing them first, sending goons to their house, forcibly demanding apology of a 15-year-old girl and then accepting that apology is complete nonsense,” the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha said.
The controversy came as CJP leaders are attending a two-day strategy meeting in Maharashtra’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.
Speaking to reporters earlier, CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke said the outfit would continue to function as a “pressure group” rather than a political party and hinted at expanding its activities across the country, including joining the student protests in Jharkhand.
