A 54-year-old railway worker was arrested on Thursday for allegedly raping a 20-year-old passenger after luring her to a room at Odisha’s Rourkela railway station with the promise of arranging a confirmed ticket, police stated.
Senior divisional industrial supervisor (railways) Aditya Chaudhary stated the accused, Kapileshwar Singh, a valve operator, has been dismissed from service and won’t obtain pensionary advantages. “We’re extending all potential cooperation to the police within the investigation.”
Police stated the girl was on the Rourkela station along with her two cousins en path to Bengaluru.
