From 1 August, Microsoft has increased the prices of the Xbox Series X|S consoles in Europe. The disc-based Xbox Series X has gone up by €200 to €799, whilst the cheapest Xbox Series S now costs €499.
The new prices are as follows:
- Xbox Series S 512 GB – €499 instead of €349;
- Xbox Series S 1 TB – €599 instead of €399;
- Xbox Series X Digital 1 TB – €749 instead of €549;
- XBOX Series X 1 TB with a hard drive – €799 instead of €599.
Microsoft announced a global price increase back in June, but at the time only mentioned changes for the US: an increase of $100 for the 512 GB models and $150 for the 1 TB versions. The price rise in Europe has turned out to be more significant.
The company explained the decision by citing the components crisis. According to Microsoft, storage drives and memory for the consoles have risen in price by more than 2.5 times, and their cost could double again by autumn 2027. The company is discontinuing production of the Xbox Series X with a 2 TB storage drive.
Following the price increase, the 1 TB Xbox Series S is now on a par with the digital PlayStation 5 – both cost €599. The disc-based Xbox Series X remains €100 cheaper than the PlayStation 5 Pro, which retails at €899.
