Chief of Opposition (LoP) in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge introduced up the incident of alleged ‘shuddhikaran’ (purification) ceremony held at Haldwani’s Ramlila Floor after the Congress president addressed a rally there on August 8, 2026.
“Register a case towards this act of untouchability. That’s my demand,” Mr. Kharge mentioned, claiming that the BJP had a job to play within the incident.
To this, Chief of the Home J.P. Nadda mentioned the BJP doesn’t subscribe to such actions. Condeming the incident, he mentioned the BJP Nationwide President Nitin Nabin will take the matter significantly. “Strict motion can be taken towards these discovered accountable upon investigation,” he mentioned, asking the Congress to not “politicise” the problem.
