New MG 7-seater: What’s New?

The upcoming 7-seater will be MG’s version of the Wuling Darion. The Wuling Darion is already available in international markets. For the Indian market, this 7-seat SUV will likely rival the Toyota Innova. We already know that the Innova is quite popular among the masses for the space it offers, and this new 7-seat MPV is longer than the Innova – that means more cabin space.
Interior

The Darion-based MPV is expected to carry over the features from the international model. Now, the international model isn’t fully- but fairly loaded in terms of features. It gets a 12.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, an 8.8-inch driver’s display, wireless charging, Level-2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera, six airbags, powered and ventilated front and second-row seats, and more.
Now, another tidbit of this new 7-seater will be the sliding doors, which will make it look premium.
Powertrain

The Darion-based MPV will be categorised under MG’s new-age programme. That said, it will be underpinned by the brand’s new ADAPT architecture, featuring a plug-in hybrid powertrain. Industry sources also suggest that an all-electric model of the Darion-based SUV will also be launched in India. The PHEV will get a 1.5-litre NA petrol engine paired with a 20.5 kWh battery pack. The electric version of the model will be equipped with a 69.2 kWh battery pack, with a claimed range of 520 kms.
Expected Launch & Price

MG has not yet revealed an exact launch timeline for this new MPV. We expect this new model to be launched by early 2027 following the launch of the Starlight 560-based SUV happening this month. Talking about the pricing, expect this 7-seater to be priced between Rs. 26 lakh – Rs. 40 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
