Minecraft Switch 2 launches on October 27, Mojang confirmed on Minecraft.net. The official post locks the date for the best-selling sandbox on Nintendo’s newest console.

The Switch 2 build turns Vibrant Visuals on by default. Players get enhanced lighting, stronger shadows, and the richer look Mojang already shipped on other Bedrock platforms. Supported Marketplace content can use the same presentation when the pack allows it.

What Switch 2 players actually get

The announcement is still short on port-level specs. Mojang highlights the visual default rather than frame-rate targets or resolution numbers. It also does not confirm Joy-Con 2 mouse support. Still, the studio is clear on one ownership detail that matters for current Switch households.

If you already own Minecraft on Nintendo Switch, a digital upgrade path will be available. Mojang says more details will follow. Pricing and exact redemption steps remain unconfirmed for now. That silence matters for families who already bought the Switch edition.

Super Mario Mash-Up gets a visual refresh

The Super Mario Mash-Up pack is also getting an update built for Vibrant Visuals. That pack stays exclusive to Nintendo versions of Minecraft. It brings a Mario-themed world, music, and unique skins. Players can revisit spots like Peach’s Castle and Delfino Plaza inside the blocky sandbox.

That Nintendo crossover also sits next to a busy Switch 2 software window. Tech My Money already covered how a Nintendo eShop page leaked Minecraft Dungeons II timing. We also tracked how Pokemon Pokopia’s Expansion Pass continues on Switch 2.

Limits to keep in mind

Mojang flags real limits on the new look. Vibrant Visuals is not available in some gameplay, including split-screen. Certain Marketplace worlds and content are also excluded. Local couch sessions may fall back to a simpler graphics mode as a result.

The date is firm and the visual pitch is clear. Switch owners can expect an upgrade path once Mojang publishes the fine print. Mark October 27 if you want mainline Minecraft on Switch 2 with Vibrant Visuals on by default.
