Max Verstappen responds to Loek Hartog’s life-saving act

The exceptional actions of Loek Hartog over the weekend haven’t gone unnoticed by Max Verstappen, after Hartog saved the lifetime of fellow racing driver Ollie Millroy.

The four-time F1 drivers’ champion took a second after the Italian Grand Prix at Monza to reward his fellow Dutchman for an act of bravery that captured the eye of the complete motorsport world.

Hartog was competing within the fourth spherical of the China GT Championship on the Shanghai Worldwide Circuit, driving his Porsche 911 GT3 R EVO, when a chain-reaction collision engulfed rival Millroy’s Ferrari in flames.

The British driver was trapped within the cockpit as marshals stood hesitantly on the sideline, seemingly not sure how to reply to the burning wreck.

Hartog didn’t hesitate. He introduced his personal automobile to a halt, sprinted in the direction of the hearth, grabbed a fireplace extinguisher from a marshal and bodily hauled Millroy to security. All the rescue took simply 49 seconds.
