A 28-year-old lady from Nagpur was allegedly trafficked to Portugal and bought to a beer store proprietor after a Pune-based agency promised her a high-paying abroad job and extorted her of round Rs 11 lakh.
The incident befell final month when the lady got here throughout a consultancy known as ‘We Migrate’ in Pune by way of Instagram. When she received in contact with them, the company operators promised her a job as a cashier in Portugal with a high-paying wage of Rs 1.5 lakh per 30 days. In addition they advised her she must work solely eight hours a day.

When the lady landed in Portugal, the “brokers” snatched her passport and allegedly held her hostage in a room for 2 days.
The girl was then bought to a beer store proprietor, the place she was compelled to work and subjected to extreme psychological and bodily torture.
At one level, the lady requested the fraudsters to return her passport, however they demanded extra money from her.
After enduring almost a month of torture, the lady found an escape plan. She first fled to Lisbon by bus after which went to Madrid. From there, she managed to return to India through Doha.
As she landed in India, the fraudsters demanded one other Rs 3 lakh underneath the pretext of getting her a job in Malta. When she refused, they started threatening to kill her husband and implicate her in false circumstances.
Annoyed, the lady approached the Pune police.
A case was filed earlier this week towards eight accused, together with the operators of ‘We Migrate’, for human trafficking, fraud, and extortion, and a search is underway, officers stated.
