India backs UN world map resolution but calls out inaccurate J&K depiction

NEW DELHI: The ministry of exterior affairs on Sunday mentioned India had voted in favour of a United Nations Common Meeting decision selling using equal-area world map projections. It additionally made it clear that the measure doesn’t endorse any specific map and that India’s sovereign territory have to be depicted based on its official map.The MEA mentioned the decision neither adopts nor authenticates any specific world map and doesn’t deal with political cartography, together with worldwide boundaries, disputed territories or place names.India nonetheless used its rationalization of vote to reiterate its place on Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.“India’s sovereign territory, together with the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, have to be depicted in accordance with India’s official map.
