Heavy rain to lash Odisha today, IMD issues fresh alerts

Odisha is likely to witness heavy rain today as India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued rainfall warning for the state. 

An orange alert for heavy rainfall has been issued for Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj districts, while a yellow alert has been issued for the remaining 28 districts.

Immediate Warnings For Thunderstorms And Lightning

The IMD has also issued a short-term alert for the next three hours, warning of rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning in parts of 13 districts.

The affected areas include Keonjhar, Kandhamal, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Gajapati, Ganjam, Koraput, Nayagarh, Jajpur, Cuttack, Kalahandi, and Kendrapara. The Meteorological Department has advised members of the public in these districts to remain cautious.

Weather Outlook For Friday

Rainfall intensity is expected to reduce slightly across Odisha on Friday.

The weather department has issued rainfall alerts for 20 districts for tomorrow, with precipitation expected to decrease particularly in southern and western Odisha. No rainfall alerts have been issued for the remaining 10 districts.
