Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Monday (August 17, 2026) mentioned the federal government would quickly represent a high-level panel on ‘Banking for Viksit Bharat’.

On this yr’s Finances, the Finance Minister had proposed a high-level committee on ‘Banking for Viksit Bharat’, to comprehensively assessment the sector and align it with India’s subsequent section of development.

Addressing the two-day PSB Confluence, Ms. Sitharaman mentioned, “We anticipate the announcement of the high-powered committee to look into the banking sector. Quickly the committee can be introduced.” She mentioned the committee would give its ideas and suggestions to the federal government.
