It has been 5 years because the Taliban returned to Kabul, bringing an finish to the U.S.-led navy presence in Afghanistan and the Islamic Republic that had dominated the nation for twenty years. On August 15, 2021, the Taliban entered the Afghan capital as President Ashraf Ghani fled the nation. The collapse of the federal government marked the tip of America’s longest conflict and the Taliban’s return to energy.

5 years later, the Taliban stay in charge of Afghanistan.
