Television actress Dipika Kakar Ibrahim has always been in the news for her personal life. Even after eight years of marriage to Shoaib Ibrahim, their relationship continues to face scrutiny. Many people have claimed that the actress embraced Islam only to marry Shoaib. However, her Sasural Simar Ka co-star Jayati Bhatia has now clarified that this was never true.While talking to Siddharth Kannan, Jayati Bhatia opened up about Dipika’s decision and clarified that accepting Islam was never a requirement for her marriage. “It is well known that Dipika gives her 100 percent to everything, whatever job she might be doing. When she got in a relationship with Shoaib, she wanted to give 100 percent to that relationship.”
Jayati reveals the reason behind Dipika embracing Islam
The seasoned actress further shared the conversation she had with Dipika about embracing Islam, “I asked her if she converted because of her marriage. She said no. She was going through a difficult time and she went to Ajmer Sharif and it came to her that she wanted to do this, and she did. It wasn’t because of marriage or anything; maybe she got her strength from this,”Jayati also shared that Dipika chose to embrace Islam because she found peace and strength in the faith. “If she was getting strength from praying, she decided then that she would like to convert, and it is absolutely a personal choice,” she said.Dipika and Shoaib first met on the sets of Sasural Simar Ka. The two played the lead characters of Simar and Prem and over time, their on-screen bond turned into a close friendship. After being friends for some time, the duo got married in 2018 in the presence of family and friends in Shoaib’s hometown Maudaha. They are now parents to a son, Ruhaan.Currently, the actress has been going through a challenging time. She has been facing health issues since last year after being diagnosed with liver cancer. Dipika underwent a 14-hour-long surgery for her stage 2 liver cancer. She developed a cyst again in her liver sometime ago and is currently undergoing oral targeted therapy as part of her ongoing treatment.On the work front, while Shoaib has been busy with music videos and was last seen in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, Dipika participated in Celebrity Masterchef which had to quit due to her shoulder injury.
