NEW DELHI: CBI has filed an FIR in opposition to Essel Group Chairman Subhash Chandra and another people for allegedly defrauding LICHFL (LIC Housing Finance Ltd) of Rs 1,322 crore between 2018 and 2026. LICHFL alleged that Chandra had submitted a ‘internet price certificates’ of Rs 59,113 crore in 2018 whereas availing credit score amenities however in 2024 said that his internet price was simply Rs 31.7 crore. The FIR was registered on a criticism filed by LICHFL on Aug 31.In line with the FIR, LICHFL had sanctioned two mortgage amenities totalling Rs 980 crore to 4 corporations. A Rs 500-crore facility was sanctioned to Vasant Sagar Properties Pvt Ltd and Pan India Infraprojects Pvt Ltd, whereas one other Rs 480 crore was given to Digital Subscriber Administration and Consultancy Companies Pvt Ltd and Spirit Infrapower and Multiventures Pvt Ltd.Chandra denied possessing internet price said in certificatesEach amenities have been backed by private ensures furnished by Essel Group chairman Subhash Chandra. The criticism alleged that the loans have been sanctioned on the idea of net-worth certificates submitted on behalf of Chandra. One certificates, issued in March 2018, allegedly confirmed his internet price at $6,197.6 million, equal to round Rs 59,113 crore, as of March 31, 2017. One other certificates put his internet price at Rs 40,562 crore.Nonetheless, the criticism said, in the course of the subsequent insolvency proceedings, Subhash Chandra had denied possessing the online price mirrored within the certificates. He allegedly said that his internet price in 2024 was Rs 31.79 crore and that even in 2017-18 it had not exceeded Rs 40,000 crore.
