The Defence Ministry on Monday cleared navy procurement proposals value Rs 1.10 lakh crore to spice up superior gentle helicopters, radars, mechanical mine layers and digital warfare programs for the Military, Navy and Air Power.
The proposals have been authorized by the Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), headed by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, as a part of efforts to spice up the armed forces’ operational capabilities and strengthen self-reliance in defence manufacturing.
The ministry mentioned the DAC accorded Acceptance of Necessity (AoN), the primary stage of the procurement course of, for a spread of acquisitions estimated at about Rs 1,10,000 crore.
For the Indian Military, the approvals embrace Chemical Organic Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) reconnaissance automobiles, high-mobility automobiles (HMVs), self-propelled mechanical mine layers (MML), superior gentle helicopters (ALHs), trawl tanks and Sarvatra bridge system.
The CBRN reconnaissance automobiles will assist detect and monitor areas contaminated by chemical, organic, radiological and nuclear brokers, whereas the HMVs are anticipated to enhance troop motion and logistics help in tough terrains.

For the Indian Navy, the DAC cleared the procurement of Arudhra radars and the design, growth and subsequent procurement of Marine Fuel Generators (MGT), a key warship propulsion system geared toward decreasing dependence on overseas suppliers.
The Arudhra radars will change present air-route surveillance radars at naval air stations, enhancing the Navy’s surveillance capabilities.
The Indian Air Power obtained approval for a number of tasks geared toward strengthening the fight functionality of its fighter plane, transport fleets and helicopters. These embrace the procurement of Floor-Primarily based Multi-Goal Jammer (GBMPJ) and the set up of the Defence Forces Safe Entry Card system.
