JioTag 2 has been launched in India as the successor to the 2023’s original model. While the original tracker could only be used via the Jio Things app, the new one is compatible with both Apple’s Find My ecosystem and Android’s Find Hub. Here’s everything else to know about it.

JioTag 2: Specifications
The JioTag 2 is a Bluetooth tracker designed to help users locate everyday items such as keys, wallets, bags, and luggage. It supports Google’s Find Hub network on Android devices as well as Apple’s Find My service on iPhone and iPad, allowing users to track tagged items using the native location services on their smartphones.
The tracker uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) for pairing and features a built-in 120dB buzzer that can be triggered through the Google Find Hub or Apple Find My App to locate nearby items. If the tracker moves out of Bluetooth range, its location can be anonymously updated by nearby compatible Android and iOS devices through Google’s Find Hub and Apple’s Find My networks. It also supports Lost Mode to improve the chances of recovering misplaced belongings.

JioTag 2 does not require a SIM card, cellular connectivity, or a subscription plan. Instead, it relies on Google’s and Apple’s crowdsourced device networks to provide semi-real-time location updates.
In terms of durability, the JioTag 2 carries an IP64 rating for dust and water resistance. It features a polycarbonate body with a built-in mounting hole, making it easy to attach to keychains, backpacks, luggage, and other personal belongings.
The tracker is powered by a replaceable battery that’s claimed to last up to one year, and Jio includes an additional battery in the box. Since it uses replaceable batteries, there’s no need to recharge the device.
