Olympic medal-winning shuttler PV Sindhu has strongly responded to criticism from YSRCP supporters over the second Bhoomi Pooja for her upcoming sports and education institution in Andhra Pradesh.
The controversy began after some social media users questioned why another Bhoomi Pooja was held for the project. One troll asked, “Bhoomi Pooja rituals must be performed again and again. What happened to the Bhoomi Pooja that was done in the past?”
Responding to the criticism, Sindhu shared a video on X and explained the reasons behind conducting the ceremony again. “A few people have asked why we had another Bhoomi Pooja today, so I wanted to clarify,” she wrote.
Sindhu said the first Bhoomi Pooja was organized with barely seven hours’ notice, making it impossible for her family, close friends, and several people who had supported her dream from the beginning to attend.
“The first one was put together with barely 7 hours’ notice. I couldn’t have my family, many of my closest friends, Swathi Akka, Anil Anna from Greenko, and so many people who have supported this dream from day one,” she said.
Sindhu further revealed that after the first ceremony, the project itself underwent a major transformation.
“Soon after, with CM Chandrababu Naidu Garu’s guidance, we paused to expand the vision from a badminton academy into a truly integrated sports and education institution,” Sindhu explained.
According to the badminton star, the second Bhoomi Pooja marked a fresh beginning for the expanded project and gave her an opportunity to celebrate the milestone with people who have stood by her throughout the journey.
“As we restarted this dream, I simply wanted the people who mean the most to me to be there and share this moment together. It was an honour to have Lokesh Anna join us for this new beginning,” she wrote.
Ending her message on an optimistic note, Sindhu said the focus is now firmly on completing the ambitious project. “Now, it’s full steam ahead towards 2028,” she said.
Sindhu’s response quickly gained attention on social media, with many users praising her for addressing the criticism directly and explaining the reasons behind the second Bhoomi Pooja.
