A 23-year-old pupil of design was allegedly raped by a safety guard on the terrace of a housing society in Ahmedabad late on Saturday (August 8) night, police stated on Sunday.
The lady, who lived in a rented condominium within the housing society together with three different girls, was allegedly assaulted round 10.30 pm when she was taking an after-dinner stroll on the rooftop of the five-storey constructing within the Anandnagar space, police stated.
The accused, who belongs to Uttar Pradesh, has been arrested, police stated.
Joint Commissioner of Police (Sector 1) Neeraj Badgujar stated that the accused, who has been recognized as Dharam Singh, sneaked up on the lady and threw a wire round her neck, constricting her respiration and inflicting her to break down.
“He raped her after she blacked out as a result of strangulation,” Badgujar stated. After committing the crime, the accused allegedly escaped after bolting the door of the terrace from the skin, the workplace stated.
After the lady got here to, she raised an alarm, and was heard by others within the constructing.
“The lady shouted for assist after which individuals residing on the fifth flooring of the housing society opened the door of the terrace. Police responded to the incident instantly and registered an FIR,” Badgujar stated.

“Ten groups have been shaped from completely different police stations. These groups checked footage from all CCTV cameras within the neighborhood, and finally tracked down the accused close to Hebatpur in Thaltej. His medical checks have been finished and he’s being interrogated,” Badgujar added.
