21 residents of Tamil Nadu rescued from Nepal arrive in Chennai

Twenty-one residents of Tamil Nadu, who have been among the many pilgrims rescued from Nepal, arrived in Chennai late on Friday evening after being introduced again to India through New Delhi.

The pilgrims, who’re from Chidambaram and Mayiladuthurai, have been a part of a gaggle of pals and kinfolk who have been travelling collectively. They have been evacuated from Nepal following flash floods that left a number of Indian vacationers and pilgrims stranded.

Talking after their return, one of many pilgrims stated they have been moved to a rescue camp and later to an Military camp earlier than being taken to the Indian Embassy. From there, they have been flown to New Delhi as a part of the evacuation efforts and subsequently travelled to Chennai.

“We have been travelling in three vans. Fortunately, our van was at a turning when an enormous wave hit the street forward of us. Two different vans have been standing close by, however our automobile managed to flee, and we weren’t caught within the floods. Earlier on Friday, Union Minister for Exterior Affairs S. Jaishankar, together with Tamil Nadu Ministers Aadhav Arjuna, Rajmohan, R. Vinoth, and Okay. Thennarasu, welcomed the 21 pilgrims from Tamil Nadu in New Delhi following their rescue from Nepal.
