A Malaysia Airways flight from Kuala Lumpur to Jeddah made an emergency touchdown at Chennai airport on Monday night after reporting a technical difficulty involving Engine No. 2.

Malaysia Airways flight MH156, operated by an Airbus A330-200 registered as 9M-MTY, was carrying 186 individuals when a full emergency was declared at Chennai airport at 4.07 pm IST.

The plane was scheduled to reach at 4.40 pm and landed at 4.44 pm. It was assigned Bay 45, with emergency response preparations activated on the airport.

In keeping with an official assertion from Chennai airport, the plane diverted to Chennai after Engine No. 2 failed.

A senior Chennai airport official informed NDTV, “It was a clean touchdown. All passengers are protected.”

The airport stated the plane and the technical difficulty have been being assessed by the airline and related technical groups.
