Xiaomi Redmi 17 launches internationally, featuring a 7,500 mAh battery and 120 Hz display

The Xiaomi Redmi 17 has arrived in Germany, with prices starting at €219 across several color options, including an eye-catching Oak Green variant. The smartphone is also already listed in other European markets, such as Spain. Although available at a few retailers, broader availability remains limited for now.

However, the €219 asking price feels ambitious given the phone’s dated feature set. The main compromise is the MediaTek Helio G91 Ultra SoC, which lacks 5G support and caps mobile connectivity to 4G. While it does support dual-SIM functionality, users must choose between a second SIM card and expanding storage via a microSD card due to the hybrid slot.

The base configuration offers a modest 4 GB of LPDDR4X RAM paired with 128 GB of eMMC storage. In daily use, the limited RAM is bound to be more of a bottleneck than the storage capacity. Xiaomi also lists the device in 4 GB / 256 GB, 6 GB / 128 GB, and 6 GB / 256 GB configurations.

Measuring 8.8 mm thick and weighing 232 grams, the Redmi 17 houses a large 6.9-inch display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i. While the panel supports a fluid 120 Hz refresh rate, its resolution is capped at a low 1600 x 720 pixels, and peak brightness maxes out at an uninspiring 825 cd/m². The rear camera setup is equally basic, featuring a single 50 MP sensor. The clear highlight, however, is the massive 7,500 mAh battery, which supports 45 W fast charging.
