India captain Shubman Gill has sustained a finger injury in training and is out of the first day’s play of the three-day warm-up match against Sri Lanka XI, played at Nondescripts Cricket Club Ground, Colombo from August 7. KL Rahul leads the team in Gill’s absence.
BCCI stated that Gill sustained an impact injury to his right ring finger during practice of Thursday and will sit out of the opening day as a precautionary measure. He will be under the observation of BCCI medical team.
India play two Tests against Sri Lanka, with the first game starting on August 15 in Galle. The second fixture will be held in Colombo from August 23.
