No less than 20 individuals have been killed after a 7.4 magnitude earthquake jolted Western Colombia on Monday, information company Reuters reported. Dozens of buildings collapsed, and residents have been trapped beneath particles, leaving injured individuals and forcing individuals to evacuate their houses.

Footage shared by native media shops confirmed houses and small buildings collapsing within the cities of Pereira, Cali and Quibdo.
Though small earthquakes often known as “temblores” are widespread in central and western Colombia, these above 6.0 magnitude are uncommon. An earthquake of magnitude 6.2 close to town of Armenia killed greater than 1,100 individuals.
