Lenovo is making a bold play for the “couch entertainment” crowd, launching a new Android tablet that abandons productivity pretense to focus entirely on movie watching and music. At the same time, the company is offering steep limited-time discounts on a high-end gaming tablet and a powerful laptop power bank, signaling an aggressive push across the mobile ecosystem.
The most unconventional of the three is the Lenovo Tab Plus Gen 2. Unveiled as an entertainment-centric device, it arrives with a 12.1-inch display and an audacious nine-speaker array designed to challenge the notion that tablets are merely oversized smartphones. In a first-look report, tech outlet ASCII noted that the tablet is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 7400 processor, a significant upgrade that addresses the sluggish performance of its predecessor.
A built-in kickstand that rotates a full 360 degrees is central to the design, allowing users to prop the tablet at virtually any angle for viewing. While the large screen and booming audio are clearly its selling points, ASCII cautioned that the device is relatively heavy and thick, and it is not suited for intensive 3D gaming. The report summarized the Tab Plus Gen 2 as a niche but powerful tool for users who primarily consume video and music, rather than those looking for a productivity workhorse.
On the opposite end of the performance spectrum, the Lenovo Legion Tab 5 is currently on sale for $637.44 on Lenovo’s official platform, a 25% discount from its regular price, as reported by Notebookcheck. Shoppers must apply the coupon code “EXTRASAVEAFF” at checkout to secure the deal. Unlike the media-focused Tab Plus, the Legion Tab 5 is a compact powerhouse built for gaming. It features an 8.8-inch IPS display with a sharp 3040 x 1904 resolution and a blistering 165 Hz refresh rate.
Under the hood, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset delivers raw performance that Notebookcheck’s review found to be 63% faster in Geekbench 6 multi-core tests compared to the previous generation. The integrated Adreno 840 GPU also posted a roughly 47% gain in 3DMark’s Wild Life Unlimited benchmark. Beyond pure speed, the tablet impressed with its stamina, lasting 22 hours in a WiFi browsing battery test. While the IPS panel peaks at around 570 nits of brightness and lacks the deep contrast of an OLED screen, the report noted that no OLED option currently exists for this model. Given that this is a time-sensitive “Doorbuster” promotion, the report advises interested buyers to act quickly.
Rounding out the ecosystem deals, Lenovo’s 140W Smart Laptop Power Bank is also seeing a 25% price cut on Amazon, dropping to $74.99 from its $99.99 list price. The 20,000 mAh battery pack is designed to quickly replenish laptops, tablets, and handhelds; Lenovo claims it can charge a ThinkBook 16 Gen 8 from zero to 52% in just 30 minutes.
The power bank features a 2.01-inch TFT screen that displays real-time metrics such as battery percentage, voltage, and temperature, navigable via capacitive buttons. A translucent window on the casing exposes part of the internal circuitry. It includes two USB-C ports and one USB-A port, supporting simultaneous charging of three devices, although total output is dynamically allocated. Notebookcheck highlighted a quirk: while the device outputs up to 140W, its own maximum charging input is 93W, meaning a full recharge takes about 90 minutes even with a high-power adapter. It ships with a 240W USB-C cable and a travel pouch. The report noted that this price drop makes the larger 20,000 mAh model significantly cheaper than the newer, smaller 10,200 mAh version that retails for $99.99.
