Emraan Hashmi in ‘Awarapan 2’

The trailer of Emraan Hashmi’s upcoming action-thriller, Awarapan 2, was unveiled by the makers on Thursday (August 6, 2026). Directed by Nitin Kakkar, the film also stars Disha Patani, Shabana Azmi, Suvinder Vicky, Vijayant Kohli, Atul Kumar, Aniruddh Rawal and Puran Gabbi in pivotal roles.
The one-minute-twenty-five seconds trailer doesn’t reveal much about the plot but offers a glimpse into the darker tone of the film, where Shabana’s character seems to be playing the villain. Emraan’s Shivam is getting tortured in front of her in the beginning as she remarks, “What a beautiful face. Do you like meeting with death?”.
A set of rapidly edited visuals follow as Shivam responds, “I have an old relation with death.” The rest of the trailer shows Shivam beating up goons and engaging in slick action, showing just a glimpse of Disha’s character, who is seen playing a musical instrument. The film promises to take the story ahead from Awarapan and follow the protagonist battle his pain and take revenge.
The film is written by Bilal Siddiqi and Vishesh Bhatt. It features music by Mithoon, Jeet Gannguli, Amaal Mallik, Ankit Sachdev, Wasif Ahmad and lyrics by Sayeed Quadri, Rashmi Virag, Akhil Sachdeva, Sachin Urmtosh.
Produced by Vishesh Bhatt, Awarapan 2 will be released in theatres on August 14, clashing with Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta’s Partition-drama, Batwara 1947.
The first part, Awarapan, directed by Mohit Suri, and also starring Shriya Saran, Ashutosh Rana and Purab Kohli besides Emraan, came out in 2007 and attained a cult status over the years for its intense romantic themes. The film is notable for Emraan’s emotive performance and an electrifying soundtrack, composed by Pritam, comprising of hits like, ‘Toh Phir Aao’, ‘Tera Mera Rishta’ and ‘Maula Maula’ among others.
