Manchester United are reportedly willing to pay up to €70 million to sign Newcastle United full-back Lewis Hall before the summer transfer window closes on 1 September.

The England defender has been earmarked as Man Utd’s primary left-back target ahead of the 2026-27 campaign and they are eager to bring him to Old Trafford as they look to secure the signing of a player capable of competing with Luke Shaw for a starting XI place.

Hall, 21, made 30 Premier League appearances for Newcastle last season and while he was harshly excluded from Thomas Tuchel’s squad for the World Cup, he is still regarded as one of the best full-backs in the Premier League.

The Chelsea academy graduate is open to leaving Newcastle this summer, if reports are to be believed, and Man Utd are currently the frontrunners to secure his signature amid their bid to bolster their options on the left flank.

However, Newcastle are reluctant to sanction a sale following the departures, and the imminent exit of Bruno Guimaraes, and rumours indicate that a hefty fee will be required to even tempt the Magpies into accepting a transfer.

Man Utd remain interested, despite Newcastle’s stance, and they are ready to pay €70m (£60m) to sign Hall this summer, according to talkSPORT. However, they aren’t prepared to exceed this figure and have now earmarked Fulham and USMNT star Antonee Robinson as a possible cheaper alternative.

Hall remains top of the Red Devils’ transfer wishlist, but they are also monitoring a potential move for Robinson, who has been a mainstay for Fulham since his arrival at the club from Wigan Athletic in 2020.

Who else will Man Utd sign before Deadline Day?

In addition to pursuing a deal for either Hall or Robinson, Man Utd are also eager to sign another new central midfielder before the summer window shuts on 1 September.

It’s understood that Mason Mount’s performances in pre-season have eased concerns over the club’s midfield depth, however they remain eager to bolster Michael Carrick’s squad with another option in the middle of the park following Casemiro’s departure and Manuel Ugarte’s ACL injury.

AS Roma star Manu Kone is regarded as a top target for the role, while Man Utd have also been tipped to rekindle their interest in Brighton & Hove Albion’s Carlos Baleba.

The Red Devils will also likely pursue a new forward if they sanction the departure of Joshua Zirkzee, amid significant interest from clubs in Serie A.
