Congress chief and nationwide chairman of the All India Unorganized Staff and Workers Congress (KKC), Dr. Udit Raj, was detained by the Delhi Police on Tuesday following a flash protest exterior the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Delhi headquarters at Keshav Kunj.
The snap demonstration, organized collectively by Congress staff and the Doma Parisangh confederation, caught regulation enforcement off guard. Protestors converged on the website, chanting slogans and burning copies of the traditional textual content Manusmriti alongside symbolic RSS uniforms.
Demonstrators have been heard chanting, “The nation will run on the Indian Structure, not the Manusmriti.”
The protest is the newest in a political row centered on caste and Dalit id. The fast set off stems from a controversial “purification” (shudhikaran) ritual performed at a public rally floor in Haldwani, Uttarakhand, shortly after Congress Nationwide President Mallikarjun Kharge had addressed a gathering there.

“I’ve been detained. I got here to the Keshav Kunj RSS headquarters… I burnt the Manusmriti. Our chief Mallikarjun Kharge was disrespected, and an FIR has been registered in opposition to Rahul Gandhi,” Raj informed ANI.
Congress and allied Dalit organizations condemned the ritual, labeling it a blatant, casteist insult aimed immediately at Kharge, who’s a outstanding Dalit chief.
The controversy deepened after an FIR was registered in opposition to Chief of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi, who had publicly criticized the Haldwani incident.
Talking to reporters previous to his detention, Dr. Udit Raj linked the demonstration to the historic legacy of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, who famously burned the Manusmriti on December 25, 1927, to protest institutionalized caste inequality.
“The RSS and the ruling dispensation try to silently substitute our sacred Structure with the regressive tenets of the Manusmriti,” Udit Raj alleged.
“The purification ritual after Kharge ji’s rally proves that untouchability remains to be actively practiced and sanctioned by their ecosystem. We is not going to tolerate this insult to the Dalit group or the fashionable democratic construction of India.”

As a result of the demonstration was unannounced, further forces have been deployed to safe the RSS headquarters. Dr. Udit Raj and dozens of different activists have been moved to the Paharganj police station.
