Responding to questions about using divorce announcement as a Publicity stunt, Akanksha said, “I don’t think any woman would go on such a big platform and announce that she is getting divorced from her husband just for TRPs. And if people still think that, I don’t know what to say to them. Please come to my house and speak to my legal team.”She also shared that the divorce process is almost complete, and only the final paperwork is yet to be signed. “Even before I entered Lock Upp, our legal teams were already discussing this matter. It’s just that we just have to sign the papers now. The process has already been done. So, this is not something we are doing for TRPs,” she revealed. She further said that just because they are public figures doesn’t mean every personal decision is taken for publicity or attention. She said, “Even when we were getting married, people thought we were doing it for publicity. But that wasn’t true. Just because we are actors, it doesn’t mean that everything we do is only for publicity.”For the uninitiated, during the launch episode, Akanksha made a shocking revelation about her separation from husband Gaurav Khanna. She said, “Okay, so me and Gaurav are getting a divorce. Yeah, we’ve been separated, living separately for the last one year. It wasn’t public, but that’s my secret.”She further clarified that the decision was mutual and that there is no animosity between them. “It was a mutual decision. We’ve been sitting on this for the last one year. Things are not bad between me and Gaurav. We still talk to each other. We both don’t think that we are compatible as partners because we both see very different futures, and unfortunately, it’s not with each other. So, there’s no bad blood between us,” she shared.Akanksha also explained why they chose not to make their separation public earlier. “Our parents thought we were just living separately for a while because sometimes couples need space to sort things out. Since we continued talking to each other, attended events together, supported one another, and shared everything, everyone believed things would work out. But that feeling of being a married couple was no longer there. I think this will be big news even for our families,” she added.Akanksha and Gaurav got married in 2016 in a grand wedding ceremony in Kanpur. During Bigg Boss 19, Akanksha visited the BB house for the family week and viewers loved their chemistry.
