The Indian Coast Guard has launched a search and rescue operation off the coast of japanese India after a cargo ship sank within the Bay of Bengal.

Based on the Coast Guard, the MV Ocean Winner vessel issued a misery alert whereas southeast off the port of Paradip on Saturday earlier than contact was misplaced.
Two of the 24-strong crew have been rescued from life rafts, whereas the Coast Guard has deployed three ships to hold out floor searches for the remaining crew members.
The crew consisted of 20 Chinese language nationals, three Myanmar nationals, and one Bangladeshi, the company stated.
The reason for the sinking just isn’t but clear.
Sarbananda Sonowal, India’s Minister of Ports, Delivery and Waterways, stated the Panama-flagged vessel had been carrying iron ore from the port of Paradip to China when it sank.
“All companies are coordinating intently and actively doing search and rescue efforts. 2 survivors have been efficiently rescued and are being given medical care; their rank and identification are presently being verified,” he wrote in a publish on X.
“My prayers for the security of the remaining crew,” he added.
