China’s historic Chang’e-7 mission to drill for ice close to the moon’s south pole has been delayed, the nation’s human area flight programme authority stated on Sunday.
The Chang’e-7 – carrying an orbiter, a lander, rover and hopper – was set to carry off aboard a Lengthy March 5 rocket from the Wenchang spaceport in southern China as early as Monday.
The China Manned Area Company stated the mission can be postponed following a complete evaluation to stick to rules of security and reliability.
“The Chang’e-7 mission doesn’t meet the launch circumstances and can’t be carried out throughout the scheduled launch window this 12 months,” state information company Xinhua reported, citing the company.
