14 serving JKAS officers formally receive nod for induction into IAS

JAMMU, Aug 21: Fourteen serving officers of Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Companies (JKAS) are being inducted into Indian Administrative Companies (IAS), as per a communication of the Union Ministry of Residence Affairs (MHA) and Division of Personnel and Coaching (DoPT) obtained by the Normal Administration Division (GAD) of the UT administration.

In its two-day assembly held in New Delhi on April 23 and 24, 2026, the Union Public Companies Fee (UPSC) had cleared induction of 14 serving JKAS officers into IAS. Relaxation 9 vacancies of retired JKAS officers will likely be carried ahead to subsequent 12 months.

Official sources advised the Excelsior that the GAD J&Okay has obtained a communication from MHA and DoPT searching for consent of 14 JKAS officers for his or her induction into IAS. The consent, they mentioned, is taken as a number of the officers could not wish to get inducted into IAS.

Fourteen officers cleared for induction into IAS topic to their consent are Babila Rakwal, Shabnam Kamili, Rachna Sharma, Leena Padha, Rajinder Singh Tara, Tariq Hussain Ganai, Munir Ul Islam, Sajjad Hussain Ganai, Anoo Malhotra, Nitu Gupta, Prediman Krishen Bhat, Bhawani Rakwal, Smita Sethi and Anuradha Gupta.

“There have been a complete of 23 vacancies for induction of JKAS officers into IAS. 9 vacancies of retired JKAS officers will likely be carried ahead to subsequent 12 months and JKAS officers will likely be eligible for induction into IAS together with different posts which is able to turn out to be obtainable or will likely be due by that interval,” the sources mentioned.

The UPSC met in New Delhi on April 23 and 24 with prime officers of the J&Okay administration and MHA officers to take up the proposal for induction of JKAS officers into IAS as per the vacancies already recognized for the years 2019 and 2020.

That is after almost 4 years that the JKAS officers have been inducted into IAS because the final induction came about on August 4, 2022 when 16 JKAS officers made it to the IAS. Since then, the inductions did not happen regardless of identification of vacancies due to authorized wrangles.

A complete of 28 JKAS officers had been cleared for induction on July 8, 2022 however 11 of them had been later dropped as eight had retired from the providers, two refused induction and one had died whereas destiny of one other was stored in sealed cowl.

Induction of JKAS officers into IAS was not carried out for almost 12 years due to seniority disputes, authorized hurdles and so on from 2010 to 2022.
