The Division of Telecommunications (DoT) has directed telecom operators to disclaim new cellular connections to subscribers who have already got 9 SIM playing cards registered of their title, based on an official round.
Telecom service suppliers (TSPs) should put in place technical and organisational measures from August 24 to establish subscribers searching for extra cellular connections past the prescribed restrict and deny them new SIM playing cards.
“From August, 24, 2026, onward, TSPs (telecom service suppliers) shall take acceptable technical and organisational measures to establish every subscriber who seeks to acquire cellular connections past the prescribed restrict…and talk to him that he already has a most variety of cellular connections permitted to a person and accordingly, a brand new cellular connection can’t be offered to him,” the round dated August 17 mentioned.
The DoT has requested telecom operators to make use of the Digital Intelligence Platform (DIP), which was established by the division and is predicated on subscriber information data uploaded by telecom firms.
