Big Walk Co-Op Game Release: Great Player Adventure

Big Walk is officially available today, Tuesday, August 4, as a cooperative multiplayer adventure from House House, the studio behind Untitled Goose Games, and the publisher Panic. The game takes players into a wide-open world filled with puzzles, challenges, and discoveries, with teamwork and communication forming the core of the experience. Depending on the platform and location, availability begins at different times, while the game supports groups of up to 12 players and crossplay.

Big Walk is Out Today Across Platforms

The release of Big Walk is taking place through a rollout that varies depending on the player’s location and platform. On PlayStation 5 in the UK, Europe, Australia and New Zealand, the game is available as a free download for PlayStation Plus Essential subscribers in those regions.

The game is also launching today on PC and Mac through Steam, Nintendo Switch 2 and PS5 in the US. These versions are part of a simultaneous global rollout scheduled for 6:00 a.m. PDT/ 1:00 p.m. UTC, which corresponds to 6:30 p.m. IST in India. This means players in different regions may see the game become available at different local times despite the August 4 global release date.

Cooperative Gameplay Built Around Communication

At its core, Big Walk is a cooperative multiplayer adventure about teamwork and talking. Players sit out with friends through an open world where they have to find their way around, solve puzzles, overcome challenges, and discover different parts of the environment together. Communication is not simply an option running alongside the gameplay. The game uses Eat as one of its central mechanics through a proximity voice chat system.

Voices can fade as players move further apart, echo through corridors, become muffled through walls, and crackle through walkie-talkies. As a result, where players are standing can affect how effectively they communicate with one another. This can affect even basic coordination parts of the experience, particularly when players separate while exploring the game’s world.

Gestures and Tools Offer Other Ways of Communication

Big Walk also accounts for situations where talking is not possible. Players can point, wave, and gesture to communicate with their teammates, whether they are trying to direct someone, react to something happening nearby, or simply interact with the group.

The game also provides a collection of tools and toys that players can use during their journey. These include walkie-talkies, laser pointers, binoculars, megaphones, flares, whiteboards and cowbells, alongside other unusual objects. These tools give players additional ways to interact with their surroundings and each other. The emphasis on communication through voice, movement and objects made the social element a direct part of how groups approach the game’s challenges.

Open World Allows Players to Explore at their Own Pace

The game features a wide-open world that players can explore together at their own pace. While puzzles and challenges provide objectives, Big Walk also allows players to spend time simply interacting with one another and the environment. Players can stop to watch a sunset, explore an area together or interfere with what their friends are doing. 20 movements are part of the game’s broader focus on spending time together rather than simply moving from one objective to another.

This approach could make Big Walk particularly relevant to players looking for a multiplayer experience where social interaction and exploration are as important as completing challenges.

From Untitled Goose Games to Big Walk

Big Walk comes from House House, the Australian studio that previously released Untitled Goose Games. That game became known for its single-player design, where players controlled a troublesome goose and completed tasks while creating Chaos around the village.

Big Walk moves away from that single-player structure and places cooperation and communication at the center of its gameplay. Both games, however, share and emphasize playful interactions and allow players to experiment with the environment. The difference is particularly important here because Big Walk is designed around multiple people experiencing those interactions together. Instead of controlling one character through a series of objectives, players have to communicate, explore, and solve problems as a group.

2 to 12 Players With Crossplay

Big Walk can be played with as few as 2 players or as many as 12. A smaller group can create a more focused cooperative experience, while larger groups can introduce more unpredictable interactions as players explode and communicate across the world. The game also supports crossplay, allowing friends on different supported platforms to play together.

On PlayStation, PS Plus is required for online play, with the game supporting up to 12 online players. In select regions, PS Plus Essential subscribers can also download Big Walk at no additional cost as part of their subscription.

A Complete Start-to-Finish Adventure

Unlike an ongoing multiplayer game designed around continuous content, Big Walk is presented as a hand-crafted cooperative adventure intended to be played from start to finish with a group of friends.

That structure gives the game its defined conclusion rather than positioning it as an endless expanding multiplayer experience. This combination of a defined adventure, flexible player count, and crossplay also means the game can work for smaller groups as well as larger groups.

Conclusion

Big Walk is officially out today, August 4, with availability rolling out across PS5, PC, and Mac through Steam and Nintendo Switch 2, depending on region and platform. Its Central focus is cooperative play, combining an open world with puzzles, challenges, and a communication system that reacts to distance and surroundings.

With its flexible player count and crossplay support, the game puts shared exploration and communication at the center of the experience, giving players a defined cooperative adventure to complete together.
