E coli micro organism, often present in human excreta, has been present in consuming water samples picked up from water coolers at a number of railway stations, a report by the Comptroller and Auditor Basic has stated.
These included Coimbatore and Palakkad in Southern Railway, Hyderabad in South Central Railway, 4 stations (Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Bhiwandi Highway, Kalyan and Lonavala) in Central Railway, and Madhupur in Japanese Railway, the report that studied passenger providers at 512 non-suburban grade stations throughout all zones stated.
“Check outcomes of consuming water samples collected from faucets in platforms at 49 stations in eight zones throughout 2022-23 and 56 stations in 9 zones throughout 2023-24 indicated presence of Whole coliforms micro organism (together with E-coli),” the report acknowledged, information company PTI reported on Sunday, August 16.

Even nationwide capital lacks fundamentals
